About the position of Platform Operations Specialist

At the headquarters of the Bijenkorf, our digital department is our youngest and fastest growing department. A passionate, multinational group of over 150 professionals work together on the continuous growth and improvement of our digital platform. This is a Platform Operations Specialist position within a strong, technical and high profile team. As a Platform Operations Specialist you further improve and professionalize our digital IT platform operations processes.

You manage urgent and complicated support issues and act as an escalation point. By further developing and maturing the escalation process you ensure information flows freely in the organisation. In addition you manage key 3rd party SLA’s by ensuring that all services are delivered according to contractual commitments.

Since this is a new role you will get the opportunity to shape the role and structure platform operations in the best way possible. In the near future we foresee the platform operations teams growing to a larger team.

About the Technology team

De Bijenkorf’s Technology team is a fast growing team. Spread over 10 multidisciplinary squads, engineers continuously deliver software of high quality for our webshops, mobile apps and omnichannel applications. In addition we work with a near shore team of developers and a select group of partners to deliver software in an agile way.  Several suppliers deliver a key piece of SaaS software tightly integrated with our online environment. Our digital platform runs in the Google Compute Cloud.

Your main tasks and responsibilities

  • Own the overall incident management & escalation process;
  • Manage service delivery of 3rd parties & internal teams;
  • Coordinate the RCA of issues and communicate appropriately to internal and external customers;
  • Inform & align stakeholders (scrum teams, management and business);
  • Initiate improvement projects based on problem deep dives.

How you complete our team

  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to be personable yet persistent;
  • Experience in managing 3rd party vendors;
  • A clear vision on how to organize & structure platform operations in an international, complex and rapid paced environment and how to achieve that;
  • Highly service oriented, knowledge of ITIL processes (to manager third parties) and an agile working environment is a plus;
  • Analytical thinker – understanding the matter, situation, or problem at hand by way of interpreting the data; translate this into a decision, solution, conclusion, or the cause of an issue;
  • Ability to see the bigger picture and identify recurring issues that need to be addressed;
  • Bonus points for experience in an online retail environment.
